Wendy Covert
University of Houston College of Pharmacy graduate What I like about Methodist: I was drawn to the Methodist Pharmacy residency program after completing an oncology rotation at Methodist. My interests include oncology as well as infectious diseases and transplant, and I could gain more experience in all of these areas at Methodist. The program also has a reputation for being a very comprehensive program, and I also wanted to strengthen my general knowledge of clinical pharmacy. Also, there are four second year residencies at the hospital, which was an important factor for me in deciding where I wanted to complete my PGY1 residency due to my strong desire to complete a second year post-graduate residency. I am interested in research and teaching along with a strong focus on clinical work and I felt that the TMH residency gave me adequate opportunities in all of those areas. The pharmacy staff at TMH was well educated, passionate about their careers and was willing and eager to work with, teach and mentor the residents. I am also very interested in completing a PGY2 residency and TMH has the PGY2 program I was looking for. Office: 713-441-1075 Email: cejanak@tmhs.org University of Houston College of Pharmacy graduate What I like about Methodist: I chose TMH because I had done two rotations here and I felt that the hospital itself is an amazing one. Also, I knew that the residency program was one in which I would gain a lot from. The clinical pharmacists that I had interacted with had excellent knowledge and many of them had trained at TMH. The Pharmacy Department seemed really intent on how well their residents were performing and I knew I would be pushed to do my best work. University of Houston College of Pharmacy graduate What I like about Methodist: I ranked Methodist because as a student, the 2 rotations I had here were my favorite because I really enjoyed my experiences here. I learned a lot and my preceptors challenged me and helped me grow as a clinician and that is what I also wanted out of a residency. Office: 713-441-2609 Email: jtswan@tmhs.org University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy graduate What I like about Methodist: I was attracted to residency programs with large clinical pharmacy staff, affiliations with a school of pharmacy, psychiatry rotations, and opportunities to conduct meaningful research. The Methodist Hospital provides a rigorous program that will help me develop core clinical practice abilities but is flexible enough to allow me to pursue areas of interest.
