Our Practice Philosophy

We use the team care concept for our practice. Doctors and staff are on the Red, Blue, Green, or Pink team. Patients are assigned to a team doctor. If your doctor is unavailable on the day that you need to be seen, we will place you with another doctor on your team, so that your health care needs are handled by the same staff and doctors.

Cancellations

If you are not able to attend your scheduled appointment, please call and let us know in advance. This will allow us to open up a time slot for other patients needing to see a physician.

Precepting

You may hear your doctor or nurse use the word "precepting" during your visit. Precepting is when residents discuss and verify your care with a senior faculty physician, this ensures that you are receiving the best and most current treatment. You may experience a longer wait in the exam room. Generally, when you have to wait for a physician they are meeting with other physicians about your care. We want you to know that this is part of the education process and that you, the patient, are the most important part of that process. Be assured that your health care needs are receiving the very best and most up-to-date treatment by at least TWO physicians.

Lab and X-ray Results

Lab results will be sent to you within two weeks. Once we receive the results, a doctor or nurse will send a letter or call you with the results. If you have not heard from us within two weeks, please give us a call.

Financial Policies

This description of our Financial Policies is provided to help you understand our expectations for your payment of services provided. If you have questions, please ask to see our Financial Counselor.

Co-Pays

It is the policy of the Center for Family Medicine to collect all co-pays, deductibles and patient past due balances at the time of service. Please be prepared to present your insurance card at each visit so that your coverage and benefits can be verified. This will ensure that your are receiving the benefits you are entitled to. If your insurance company denies payment, you will be responsible for working with your insurance provider to resolve any coverage issues. If you cannot provide proof of your coverage, you will be asked to pay for the services in full until your insurance can be verified.

Self Pay Accounts

Patients with no insurance coverage, or who are covered by carriers that we do not participate with, will be offered a 40% discount on their services. Payment in full is expected at the time of service.

Charity Care and Uncompensated Care

Individuals who express difficulty in paying for our services may ask for financial counseling to see if they qualify for financial aid. To qualify the individual must complete all necessary applications and provide any requested documentation. The Financial Counselor will screen the application for eligibility for all state sources of aid, including the Primary Health Care Grant. If no sources of aid are available, the individual will be considered for charity or uncompensated care based on the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital´s guidelines.
