eLearning Prepared Childbirth Class

Methodist Willowbrook Hospital has designed an online prepared childbirth class to offer you flexibility and convenience. This interactive eLearning program helps you to prepare for your baby’s birth and learn about childbirth. You and your partner will travel through an interesting learning adventure which includes written information, videos and activities such as puzzles and games.

Length of class: Self-paced (3-month access)
Fee: $75
Who should attend: Mother and her support person
When to register: Second trimester (4-5 months)

This course includes information about:

• Discomforts of pregnancy
• Understanding labor and delivery
• Labor support
• Pain management: comfort measures, medications and epidural anesthesia
• Inductions and interventions
• Vaginal birth
• Cesarean birth
• Postpartum care and adjustments
• Caring for your newborn
• Feeding your newborn

Breastfeeding

This two-hour class is encouraged for any woman and her partner who have an interest in breastfeeding. The class includes information concerning the breastfeeding process, feeding techniques, breastfeeding in the hospital and at home.

Length of class: 2 hours
Fee: $25
Who should attend: Mother and her support person are welcome

Tour

A free tour offers you and your partner an opportunity to tour the labor and delivery and post partum rooms, as well as to view the nursery areas. Expectant parents are given the opportunity to ask questions and to become more familiar with the hospital and the services provided.

Length of class: 1 hour

Sibling Class

Older brothers and sisters have a special role in the birth process. Visual aids, films, discussion and practice help to prepare the child for the addition of a new brother or sister to the family. A short tour is included.

Length of class: 1 - 1½ hours
Fee: $10 per child
Who should attend: Big brothers and Big sisters (ages 3-10) and a parent
When to register: Second trimester
What to bring: Children may bring a doll or stuffed animal

Infant Care

This class covers baby basics and offers practical tips about being a parent. Diapering, holding and burping are included in the hands on practice.
