At Methodist West Houston Hospital we want you to be prepared for the best possible childbirth experience. Before coming to the hospital for the delivery of your baby, we recommend that you practice good health habits and nutrition; work with your doctor to establish your baby´s health by doing prenatal testing; complete maternity pre–registration; attend our classes; and learn firsthand what to expect when you arrive at the hospital by visiting and taking a tour.
Prenatal Testing
Prenatal testing is an important step for establishing the health of your baby before delivery. These tests range from routine ultrasound imaging to advanced screening for possible birth defects. The goal of prenatal testing is to help ensure a safe pregnancy and delivery of a healthy baby. Talk to your doctor about these optional tests and become informed about what the tests are for and the risks that may be involved.
Maternity Pre–Registration
You should plan to pre-register before the fifth month or about 20 weeks into your pregnancy to ensure you will be admitted right away. You may pre-register in person at the hospital with patient access services found in the first floor lobby (Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) or by calling registration at 832-522-1170. You can also register online.
What to Expect
Methodist West Houston is designed to provide a comfortable, safe environment for labor, delivery, and postpartum care. We will get you settled in one of our luxury birthing suites, and then any additional admission information will be collected. We will also give you the forms needed to apply for a birth certificate and social security number.
