The San Jacinto Methodist Family Medicine Residency Program is an ideal training ground for physicians who wish to become hospitalists. Because of adequate patient volume, we are able to expand the teaching adult medicine inpatient service to accommodate a hospitalist fellowship training service for at least 7 months of the year. Our residency program is known for its excellent patient outcomes, statistics in inpatient management for length of stay, and value of low cost per admission.

At the completion of the fellowship, the fellow will be able to:

  • Manage efficiently all aspects of inpatient hospital care on floor and ICU
  • Perform intubations, arterial lines, and central lines to obtain competency in each procedure
  • Implement the principals of inpatient utilization management
  • Manage patients through the hospital system at the appropriate level of care
  • Manage a busy inpatient service keeping in mind cost effective care
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives for the hospital
  • Participate in monthly Independent Practice Association hospitalist committees
  • Spend structured time with hospital administrative leadership and Case Management departments

Benefits

  • Pay: $60,000 per year
  • Benefits insurance package same as Methodist residents
  • 3 weeks vacation; 5 days CME

Certification

  • Certificate of Completion after 1 year program completion
  • Texas State Board of Medical Examiners accredited
