Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery The comprehensive plastic and reconstructive surgery services at Methodist West Houston Hospital include the latest surgical solutions for restoring form and function lost to trauma, tumor, disease and congenital differences.

Plastic and reconstructive surgeons at Methodist West Houston work closely with other surgeons to plan and perform procedures jointly. This collaboration between surgeons reduces the need for additional procedures, improves patient safety and produces better overall outcomes.

Reconstructive Surgery

Reconstructive surgery is often performed at the same time as other surgical procedures for correcting serious wounds and injuries, and for reconstructing areas impacted by cancer surgeries such as mastectomy. Reconstructive procedures include:

  • Breast reconstruction – DIEP flap, TRAM, Lat Dorsi, TUG flap, implant–based reconstruction
  • Genetourinary and pelvic restoration – cancer reconstruction, bowel and bladder control, loss of sexual function, congenital differences
  • Lower limb restoration
  • Craniofacial surgery – trauma reconstruction, facial fractures, orthognathic surgery
  • Hand surgery

Cosmetic Surgery

Cosmetic or aesthetic surgical procedures are used for contouring and rejuvenation, sometimes after a patient has experienced dramatic weight loss. Cosmetic procedures include:

  • Body contour surgery – liposuction, surgery after massive weight loss, body sculpting
  • Breast Rejuvenation – augmentation, lifting, reduction
  • Facial Rejuvenation – facelift, browlift, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty
  • Non–Surgical Procedures (performed by a plastic surgeon) – laser rejuvenation, chemical peels, Botox, and injectables
  • Skin Care Center
