Timothy B. Boone, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Timothy B. Boone, Chairman, Department of Urology at The Methodist Hospital, was born in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Southwestern University, Georgetown, Texas with a B.S. in Biology and earned his Master of Science degree in physiology and his Ph.D. in neuroscience at the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. He graduated from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, completed his residency training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and joined the faculty at Southwestern in 1991. In 1992, he came to Baylor College of Medicine as an assistant professor. He is the medical director of the Urodynamic Laboratories at The Methodist Hospital. As a member of The Center for Prostheses Infection, he represents the specialty of urology and he is the staff urologist over the Spinal Cord Injury Unit at the Houston VA Medical Center. In 2000, Dr. Boone was named the Russell and Mary Hugh Scott Chair and Professor of the Scott Department of Urology at Baylor College of Medicine and held the position until July of 2008. He currently holds the title of Clinical Professor with Scott Department of Urology. Dr. Boone was appointed Chairman of Urology in the Methodist Department of Urology in July 2008 and is a professor of urology at Weill Cornell Medical College.
Dr. Boone specializes in treatment of patients with incontinence and bladder problems associated with spinal cord injury and neurologic disease, men with postprostatectomy incontinence, and women with complex voiding dysfunction. He helped established an active Neurourology Research Laboratory focused on the basic mechanisms of bladder dysfunction following neurologic injury to better treat these conditions.
Dr. Boone is a member of the Texas Urological Society, Society for Neuroscience, American Urological Association, Inc., the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons, Clinical Society of Genitourinary Surgerons and Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology (SUFU). He serves as a consultant reviewer for several scientific journals, including Neurourology and Urodynamics, where he is the clinical neurourology editor; The Journal of Urology; Urology; Spinal Cord; European Urology and The New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. Boone was officially elected as a trustee to The American Board of Urology at the annual winter meeting in February 2006 and currently serves as president of the Board.
Wesley Ekeruo, M.D.
Dr. Ekeruo is a urologist specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of urologic disorders including: Prostate, Kidney and Bladder Cancer, Prostate Enlargement (BPH), Elevated PSA, Kidney Stones, Incontinence in Women and Men, Overactive Bladder, Erectile Dysfunction as well as Blood in the Urine (Hematuria).
His area of interest and expertise includes state of the art use of minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy) and robotic technology.
Dr. Ekeruo received his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine followed by completion of his General Surgery internship with the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery. Dr. Ekeruo completed his urology residency in the Scott Department of Urology at Baylor College of Medicine. The primary goal of his practice is to provide all patients progressive, state of the art compassionate healthcare.
Sophie Fletcher, M.D.
Dr. Fletcher is a female urologist who completed an ABOG-ABU accredited fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. She is an assistant professor in the Department of Urology, and Director of Research for the Center for Restorative Pelvic Medicine. Dr. Fletcher received her medical degree from The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and went on to complete general surgery internship and urology residency at The University of Virginia. Her fellowship training in female urology took place in a unique program that integrated highly skilled physicians from both Urology and Gynecology programs.
Dr. Fletcher specializes in surgical and non surgical treatments for urologic and pelvic floor disorders such as urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, pelvic organ prolapse, neurogenic bladder, pelvic pain, and female sexual dysfunction. She is able to provide patients with urodynamics testing, surgical treatments for urinary incontinence, vaginal pelvic organ prolapse repair, da Vinci robotic sacrocolpopexy, and Interstim sacral neuromodulation. Her research interests include surgical outcomes for incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse, and female sexual dysfunction.
Alvin Goh, M.D.
Dr. Goh is a fellowship-trained urologist specializing in minimally invasive surgical treatments, including robotic, laparoscopic, and endourologic procedures, for general and complex urologic diseases. He has particular expertise in kidney, bladder, and prostate cancer as well as adrenal masses, urinary tract reconstruction, and transplant urology. He is Director of Advanced Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery Programs in The Methodist Institute for Technology, Innovation, and Education (MITIE).
Dr. Goh received his medical degree from Northwestern University and completed his general surgery internship and urology residency at the Baylor College of Medicine. He pursued sub-specialty fellowship training in advanced laparoscopy and robotic surgery at the University of Southern California under Dr. Inderbir Gill, the world leader in minimally invasive urologic surgery.
Dr. Goh has helped to develop novel techniques for robotic kidney-sparing surgery, robotic bladder cancer surgery and intracorporeal urinary reconstruction, and single-site robotic and laparoscopic surgery. He has won multiple awards for his scientific presentations and surgical videos at national and international meetings. His research focuses on the application of new technology in the treatment of urologic diseases.
Rose Khavari, M.D.
Dr. Khavari is a urologist at The Methodist Hospital. She practices a full range of general urology treating both male and female patients for prostate, kidney and bladder disorders, and particularly surgical and nonsurgical management of male and female incontinence (leakage of urine), pelvic floor disorders such as overactive bladder, pelvic organ prolapse, neurogenic bladder (as in diabetes, stroke, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, etc), incontinence after prostate surgery or radiation, and male and female sexual dysfunction. Dr. Khavari specializes in minimally invasive surgery including robotic (da Vinci) surgery.
Dr. Khavari received her medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston with highest honors, followed by a General Surgery Internship with the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. She subsequently completed her Urology Residency at Baylor College of Medicine, Scott Department of Urology. Dr. Khavari further pursued her fellowship training in Male and Female Continence, Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery, and Neurourology at The Methodist Hospital under mentorship of Dr. Timothy Boone and Dr. Sophie Fletcher.
Wesley A. Mayer, M.D.
Dr. Wesley Mayer specializes in minimally invasive surgical treatments for urologic diseases including robotic, laparascopic (including single-site), endourologic, laser and percutaneous surgery. He has a special interest in kidney and prostate cancer, kidney stones, upper urinary tract reconstruction and transplant urology. His other areas of expertise include the evaluation and treatment of adrenal gland masses, elevated PSA, prostatic enlargement and blood in the urine.
Dr. Mayer graduated from Baylor College of Medicine, and completed his internship in general surgery and his urology residency at the University of Pennsylvania. He was fellowship-trained in minimally invasive urology at Baylor College of Medicine's Scott Department of Urology.
Brian J. Miles, M.D.
Dr. Miles is a board-certified urologist and the Medical Director of Robotic Surgery at The Methodist Hospital. His primary focus is in the detection and surgical treatment of prostate cancer, prostate disease, renal (kidney), and bladder cancer.
Miles received his medical education at the University of Michigan and completed his urology training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. After teaching at Madigan Army Medical Center, he returned to Detroit to practice at Henry Ford Hospital for eight years where he was also director of Resident Education and director of Urologic Oncology for the Department of Urology.
In 1993 he joined the Scott Department of Urology at Baylor College of Medicine as an associate professor. His surgery, research and teaching skills make Dr. Miles an excellent addition to Methodist Urology Associates.
David F. Mobley, M.D., FACS
David F. Mobley, M.D., FACS, board-certified in Urology, received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee School of Medicine, and did his post graduate studies in general surgery and urology at Baylor College of Medicine. He has been practicing Urology in Houston since 1977. His areas of special interest include the no-incision vasectomy, vasectomy reversal and male infertility. He is extensively trained, experienced in, and interested in diseases of the prostate and kidneys. His areas of surgical expertise also include the management of men suffering from erectile dysfunction, and both men and women suffering with bladder control(incontinence) issues. Dr. Mobley is very involved in clinical research and has been an investigator in more than 100 FDA-approved clinical trials. He has more than 60 publications in multiple medical journals. He has lectured, and taught surgical techniques to urologists both domestically and internationally, as well as doing charity work in these arenas. You can hear Dr. Mobley every Monday and Tuesday on AM 700 KSEV’s Methodist Health Hour from 1-2 P.M. Dr. Mobley and his wife have 4 children and 6 grandchildren.
Elena Ruocco, RN, FNP-BC
Elena is the Nurse Practitioner at Methodist Urology Associates. Nurse Practitioners are registered nurses (RNs) who are prepared, through advanced education and clinical training, to provide preventive and acute health-care services.
Elena focuses on providing direct patient care, patient education, and serving as a patient liaison. She graduated from Pace University in New York, one of the pioneer Nurse Practitioner programs in the Country. Although Elena has cared for many different types of patients throughout her career, her first love is Women’s Health, and she brings many years of gynecology experience to Methodist Urology Associates.
Elena is also is an accomplished public speaker, and enjoys sharing information about communication, and emotional intelligence. Her clinical interests include intimate conditions that affect women such as pelvic pain, urinary tract infections, incontinence, sexual dysfunction and prolapse.
Kenneth S. Yun, M.D.
Dr. Yun practices general urology treating both male and female patients with urologic disorders. He has a particular interest in minimally invasive surgery, employing endoscopic, laparoscopic and robotic techniques. He treats: Prostate, Kidney and Bladder Cancer, Benign Prostate Enlargement (BPH), Urinary Incontinence in Men and Women, Overactive Bladder, Erectile Dysfunction, Male Infertility and Vasectomy.
Following graduation from medical school at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, Dr. Yun moved to Houston. Dr. Yun completed his General Surgery internship and Urology residency at the Baylor College of Medicine. Although a native Chicagoan, he has adopted Houston as his new home, allowing him to join the team of the Methodist Urology Associates.
Dr. Yun´s approach is to provide comprehensive and compassionate patient care, while maintaining the highest surgical standards available.
