Chairman Andrew G. Lee, M.D.
The Methodist Hospital welcomes Andrew G. Lee, M.D. as the new chairman of the Methodist Department of Ophthamology. Dr. Lee served as professor of Ophthalmology, Neurology, and Neurosurgery at the H. Stanley Thompson Neuro-ophthalmology Clinic in Iowa.
Dr. Lee's specialties include:
- optic nerve disorders (optic nerve tumors)
- optic neuritis and pseudotumor cerebri treatments
A graduate of the University of Virginia undergraduate school and the School of Medicine, Dr. Lee completed his ophthalmology residency at Cullen Eye Institute and was the chief resident at Baylor College of Medicine in 1993, training under the department’s current chair Dr. Dan B. Jones. Dr. Lee also completed a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute and was a post-doctoral Fight for Sight fellow at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
To date, Dr. Lee has published more than 280 peer reviewed articles, 40 book chapters and seven full textbooks on ophthalmology. He currently serves on the board of 15 medical journals including the American Journal of Ophthalmology, the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology, and Eye. Dr. Lee has been honored with both the Secretariat Award and the Senior Achievement Award by the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).
