Barbara L. Bass, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Program Director
Dr. Bass attended the University of Virginia Medical School and completed her general surgery residency at George Washington University. This was followed by a Gastrointestinal Research Fellowship at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. Dr. Bass has a long record of leadership in surgical education, having served for seven years as a residency program director and as past chair of the American Board of Surgery, the organization that defines standards for surgical education and training and examines surgeons for board certification. Her clinical interests are breast surgery, endocrine surgery, and gastrointestinal surgical oncology and inflammatory bowel disease.
