The Methodist Hospital Nurse Practitioner Fellowships are designed for both recent Nurse Practitioner graduates who are planning a career in the designated specialty and for practicing Nurse Practitioners who wish to redirect their career toward a selected specialty.
Transplant Fellowship Overview
The Methodist Hospital Nurse Practitioner Transplant Fellowship is a comprehensive 12-month program administered by the Transplant Center of Excellence in conjunction with the Department of Nursing, Nurse Practitioner Program. The fellowship is designed to provide advanced education with focused clinical experiences so that the fellow acquires the skills and knowledge necessary to provide medical management of transplant patients in conjunction with the transplant surgeon. The setting is both acute and ambulatory care. The fellow will also have the opportunity to interact with members of the transplant teams as well as other specialists.
Neurosciences Fellowship Overview
The Methodist Hospital Nurse Practitioner Neurosciences Fellowship is an intensive 12-month program administered by the Neurological Institute in conjunction with the Department of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Program. The fellowship is designed to provide advanced education with focused clinical experiences so that fellows have the skills and knowledge necessary to provide medical management of neurological patients in conjunction with the neurosurgeon and neurologist. The setting is both acute and ambulatory care. The fellow will have the opportunity to interact with members of the neurology and neurosurgical teams as well as other specialists. The Nurse Practitioner Fellowship will be integrated with neuroscience training programs so that both Nurse Practitioners and Neuroscience Residents/Fellows receive similar training experiences.
- A Master’s degree or higher in nursing
- Graduation from an accredited institution granting a graduate degree as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
- National certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (or eligibility)
- Texas Board of Nursing RN license and APN recognition
- Ability to work at least 40 hours per week
- BLS, ACLS
NOTE: Priority will be given to those that commit to a 24 month (minimum) term of employment at the Methodist Hospital at current competitive salaries following the fellowship

Upon successful completion of the 12 month fellowship, a certificate will be provided to the fellow that completes all required didactic and clinical competencies as well as a scholarly project and presentation.
