Nano-syringe delivers combination, targeted brain cancer therapy
Houston, TX - 4/16/2012

Nanomedicine researchers at the Methodist Neurological Institute and Rice University have developed a way to selectively kill brain cancer cells by using a tiny syringe to deliver a combination of chemotherapy drugs directly into the cells. These findings will be published in the April 24 issue of the American Chemical Society journal ACS Nano.

Stereotactic radiotherapy provides excellent local control for lung malignancies

Image-guided stereotactic radiation therapy is well tolerated and very effective in locally-controlling lung cancer, Methodist Cancer Center researchers report in the April issue of the Journal of Radiation Oncology.


Methodist physicians comment on a recent cancer screening report by the Centers for Disease Control, which states that the rate of U.S. residents receiving screenings for colon, breast, and cervical cancers falls below national targets, with Asians and Hispanics lagging even further behind.
