April marks the celebration of national Donate Life Month, where we remember the incredible sacrifice families have made by donating their loved ones' organs to those in need. We also encourage everyone to register to become organ donors—there are currently more than 113,000 people across America waiting on lifesaving organs, and more than 7,000 are right here in Texas.
In honor of Donate Life Month, the Methodist J.C. Walter Jr. Transplant Center will have booths set up throughout The Methodist Hospital System during April to educate hospital staff, patients and visitors about organ donation and transplantation.

The Transplant Center will host its annual Celebration of Life on Tuesday, April 22, for transplant patients and organ donor families. Methodist has held the event for more than 10 years, and it continues to grow as more patients are impacted by organ donation and transplantation.
Also in April, the Transplant Center will sponsor Organ Donor Awareness Night with the Houston Astros on Sunday, April 21. The first 10,000 fans will receive Astros tote bags that include information on organ donation and the Transplant Center.
