Comparative Medicine supports preclinical research in at Methodistby ensuring the judicious and humane use of preclinical study models in the pursuit of scientific excellence for the benefit of public health. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards of care to ensure the health and welfare of the preclinical models used in biomedical research through the provision of technical and veterinary assistance, training and consultation with investigators, and participation in the Institutional Care and Use Committee. The Methodist Hospital Research Institute’s Comparative Medicine care and use program is registered with the USDA (74-R-0192) and has an assurance (A4555-01) with the Public Health Service (PHS) stating that we will remain in compliance with the PHS Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory preclinical study models.
