The House Staff Council meeting in October will also include a presentation from the Benefits office. Make plans now to attend!
Meal tickets
Meal tickets are available to TMH residents that are placed on 24-hour overnight call in the hospital only! The policy allows for 2 - $5 vouchers/weekday call day and 3 - $5 vouchers/weekend call day. Currently, these tickets must be picked up in the Mary Gibbs Jones Building 9th floor GME Office during the month that you are rotating The GME Office has researched getting the allotment added to a specific debit card or badge, however at this time Aramark does not have this capability. No meal tickets for prior months will be granted.
Call rooms
The GME Office does have very limited access to departmental call rooms and individual sleeping rooms on the 10th floor of the Main Building. There is also a resident lounge with computer access, cable television, a microwave, and a refrigerator for resident use. Certain call rooms have been assigned to departments that take overnight call, however sleep rooms are available on an as needed basis for all residents. The sleep rooms are available on a first come, first served basis beginning at 9pm and can be requested through the Call Center located at Dunn 202. If a sleep room is needed between the hours of 6am and 9pm, please contact the GME Office at 713-441-4965 to gain access.
Parking
Residents are given the opportunity to obtain parking contracts in the Texas Medical Center at discounted rates for various garages within close proximity to the hospital. Other transportation options are also available to residents through Human Resources Transportation Services and are discussed in greater detail during resident on-boarding and orientation.
If you lose your parking card, please contact the HR Transportation Office at 713-441-5009 for a replacement card ($10 replacement fee).
UPDATE: Beginning September 15, 2008, the shuttle from the TWU/TMH garage will begin running at 4am with TMH Security present at the garage for your safety.
