Family Support

The Methodist Hospital Cancer Family Support Group

A cancer diagnosis can be almost as difficult for the family and friends of cancer patients as it is for the patients themselves. The Methodist Hospital Cancer Family Support Group is open to any family members or friends of cancer patients, and is facilitated by Chaplain Carolyn Cowan, Penny Testa, R.N., and Beverly Hughes, an oncology nurse.

In addition to group conversations, the facilitators are available to answer questions about cancer and cancer treatment, assist with referrals to other disciplines such as social services and nutrition, and provide emotional support.

When: every Thursday,

The Methodist Breast Center offers our patients not only outstanding medical care, but also a range of emotional and social support services that can play an important part in the healing and treatment process.

Social services

The Methodist Hospital provides a range of social work services for patients needing assistance with finances, with home health or visiting nurse services, nursing home referrals, and hospice services.

Spiritual services

The Methodist Hospital Department of Spiritual Care and Education provides 24-hour chaplain services for patients and their families. In addition to one-on-one chaplaincy, the Department of Spiritual Care operates the hospital's Wiess Memorial Chapel, which is available 24 hours a day for prayer and meditation, and the Muslim Prayer Room. The Muslim Prayer Room schedule changes monthly.
