Leadership

Dr. Luz A. Venta is the Medical Director of the Methodist Breast Imaging Center. Since 1994, she has dedicated her career to women's health by advancing the field of breast cancer detection through breast imaging and digital mammography.  In 2003, she introduced breast MRI to The Methodist Hospital prior to the American Cancer Society’s acknowledgement of it as a powerful tool in the detection of breast cancer.

Dr. Venta earned her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University, where she also completed a master's degree in genetics. She earned her medical degree from The University of Chicago, where she also completed her residency training.

She is board certified in diagnostic radiology and has extensive experience in breast cancer research.  She has published over two-hundred articles, and has lectured both nationally and internationally on four continents.

Also affiliated with Dr. Venta and the Methodist Hospital Physicians Organization is Dr. Stephen W. Phillips.  He served as an Assistant Professor of Radiology as well as an Associate Chair of Radiology for The Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota before joining the Methodist Mastos Team.

Dr. Phillips earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Missouri, where he also completed a master’s degree in Nutrition.  He earned his medical degree at The University of Missouri, followed by a breast fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago under the direction of Dr. Luz Venta.

He is board certified in diagnostic radiology and has published many articles on the mammographic detection of breast cancer and molecular breast imaging.  He has lectured in many teaching conferences  for the Mayo Clinic.
