The Hospitalists at The Methodist Hospital provide specialized, coordinated care for inpatients. From admission to discharge, patients across all departments, specialties and subspecialties receive high-quality care from physicians who specialize in hospital care. Hospitalists communicate daily with primary care physicians, surgeons and other specialists to coordinate inpatient care and are available 24/7 to offer consultations and treatment to admitted patients.
These physicians work closely with nurses, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, social workers and family members to ensure that inpatients at Methodist receive the best care possible and transition effectively form the hospital to home or follow-up care. Their continual patient evaluations are crucial to analyzing the pace of recovery and determining when discharge should occur.
Hospitalists participate in ongoing research initiatives regarding hospital protocols, and often recommend patients for participation in clinical trials. Their role in enhancing patient care and the Methodist experience is vital to maintaining the hospital's reputation for outstanding clinical service.
