Extracurricular Pre-Participation Physicals
Extracurricular activities can take a physical toll on a student’s body, from the performance of the musculoskeletal system to injuries that can affect virtually all parts of the body, including the head, heart, joints, bones, and tissues. An annual student physical, conducted by a knowledgeable and experienced health practitioner, is one of the easiest and most effective ways to ensure that a student is physically fit and able to handle the rigors of extracurricular activities, such as athletics, band and cheerleading. Physicals are an important tool in identifying students who may be at risk for health problems.
On Saturday, June 1, The Methodist Hospital System and the Houston Texans are hosting the 4th annual Extracurricular Pre-participation Physicals. Held at Reliant Center, this community service event will not only provide comprehensive student physicals, but also offer on-site specialists from the Departments of Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Orthopedics and Neurology to address any potential health concerns raised during individual assessments. For more information regarding the physicals, please contact a representative at 713-790-3333.
