Emergency

The emergency department at Methodist Sugar Land Hospital provides treatment to patients with a broad spectrum of illnesses and injuries, some of which may be life-threatening and require immediate attention. Understanding that in an emergency, time is of the essence, our emergency department remains committed to the rapid assessment and management of critical illnesses. Our 24-hour emergency care area is staffed by board-certified emergency physicians and other health care professionals who are well prepared to handle critical care patients at any time, day or night.
Patients who have called 911 will arrive at our emergency room via ambulance or helicopter, after requesting to be taken to Methodist Sugar Land. In other cases, patients may prefer to arrange their own transportation with a family member or friend. Those suffering from a condition requiring emergency medical attention should not attempt to drive themselves to the hospital.

Our Emergency Cardiac Response Team is Ready!

At Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, our STeMI Emergency Cardiac Response team is prepared and ready to handle any heart care emergency. STeMI stands for ST segment (part of the EKG) elevation Myocardial Infarction. "A STeMI is the most serious type of heart attack. Everything is ticking - from the minute the patient reaches our door. However, the community should know that Methodist Sugar Land Hospital's cardiac response team exceeds national standards in rapid response, and that saves lives. Whether an angiogram, angioplasty - or even open-heart surgery- is required, you can have the procedure you need right here at Methodist Sugar Land Hospital.

Even before patients reach the Emergency Room, our staff works closely with the emergency medical system (EMS) of Fort Bend County and other surrounding areas. In fact, we recommend that you ask the EMS to take you or your loved one directly to Methodist Sugar Land Hospital when you make that 9-1-1 call. Because we have complete heart care services here - no matter what your condition - you won't need to be transferred to another facility.

Our STeMI program is part of Methodist Sugar Land Hospital's comprehensive cardiology services. If an emergency STeMI patient requires open-heart surgery, we're ready to perform the necessary procedure with the right doctor at the right time.

If you think you are having a heart attack, call 9-1-1 immediately.
