Transplant Programs
Methodist surgeons performed our first kidney transplant in 1963, followed quickly by many firsts in heart, lung, liver and multi-organ transplants. Since then our program has grown tremendously. The Methodist J.C. Walter Jr. Transplant Center has transplanted more than 4,000 organs, including 462 in 2012, representing a new lease on life for thousands of patients. Methodist outcomes are among the best in the country.
