Background

The San Jacinto Methodist Family Medicine Obstetrics Fellowship is a 12 month, non-accredited Family Medicine Obstetrics Fellowship intended to give the licensed Family Physician the experience necessary to gain credentials and practice obstetrics with cesarean section safely in any hospital setting.

Goals

At the completion of the fellowship, the fellow will be able to:

  • The fellow will train to be able to become credentialed at any US hospital in obstetrics with Cesarean Section privileges.
  • The fellow will refine his/her skills in obstetric labor management, as well as operative and vaginal deliveries.
  • The fellow will refine his/her skills in other obstetric procedures including D and C, management of obstetric hemorrhage, shoulder dystocia, obstetric ultrasound and bilateral tubal ligation.
  • The fellow will maintain his/her skills in basic family medicine.
  • The fellow will become well versed in high risk obstetrics.

Prerequisite Requirements:

  • Active Medical License in the State of Texas
  • Graduated from an ACGME accredited Family Medicine Residency in the US

Benefits

  • Pay: $60,000 per year
  • Benefits insurance package same as Methodist residents
  • 3 weeks vacation
  • CME – 5 days

Certification:

  • Certificate of Completion after 1 year program completion
