Because we recognize that the healing process involves much more than the physical components of an illness, many features of our hospital´s design address the mental and spiritual aspects that promote healing. As you walk into our facility, you may notice that our facility does not look or feel like a typical hospital. At San Jacinto Methodist Hospital we have specifically chosen colors to promote a soothing, calming response and have installed softer, gentler lighting. You may also notice the many rays of sunlight throughout the hospital. Every patient room boasts the healing properties of natural light, either from the atrium area or the outside perimeter. The main lobby of the hospital has an inviting design complete with marble floors, a Lori´s Gifts and Jazzman´s Café & Bakery.
San Jacinto Methodist Hospital has partnered with Skylight Healthcare Systems®, the leading provider of interactive patient systems, to install Skylight ACCESS®, an interactive entertainment and education program, for each of its inpatient beds. Through Skylight ACCESS patients at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital are able to access personalized health information, education, and interactive services. The program will provide each patient with the following: information about their hospital stay, various service requests, personalized discharge planning, personalized health education, satisfaction surveys, relaxation/spiritual care, and entertainment including pre–selected Hollywood movies. For those patients that do not speak English there will be a Spanish option.
Since we realize that you are not always hungry at the typical times that most hospitals tend to serve their meals, we offer our unique "At Your Request" room service, where you can order from a special menu, at your convenience in your room. This program allows patients to call our room service operators anytime between 7:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Patients can place and order from their bedside phone by calling extension 4441. In addition patients can order meals through in-room televisions by accessing the Skylight program. Furthermore, our food service is operated by Marriott´s Sodexho companies and serves the public as well as patients within our hospital, menus offering a delicious selection of foods representative of the reputation of the hotel chain. And since our desire is to offer you a home–like environment, we feature a food court in our facility rather than a traditional cafeteria.
San Jacinto Methodist Hospital´s Chaplains are ministers specializing in Pastoral and Spiritual Care, and help in sorting out emotional needs. The chaplains are available to listen and talk with, to pray with, and to assist patients in finding other sources of help. Caregivers are available to contact a Chaplain if desired. Patients may call extension 6015 when in the hospital or 832-556-6015 externally at any time to hear an inspirational message or to hear prayers for specific needs.
If a noted change in a patient´s conditions occurs that has not been addressed, family members or visitors can call extension 5550 from the patient´s bedside phone. The operator will ask for caller identification, room number, patient name and condition. The operator will immediately activate a hospital Rapid Response Team. The process is called, "Condition H," with the H standing for HELP.
If you, a family member or a friend are affected by an illness or a disease San Jacinto Methodist Hospital offers a variety of support groups that can provide testimonials and information to help you understand the affliction.
