In April 1998, San Jacinto Methodist Hospital opened its newest addition, The Endoscopy Center. Endoscopy allows the physician to view directly the gastrointestinal or respiratory tract via a flexible instrument for diagnostic purposes (i.e. biopsies for cancer screening) and allows immediate intervention such as control of bleeding or removal of foreign bodies in emergency situations. Other procedures performed in the center include placement of non-surgical feeding tubes, urodynamic tests, and motility studies.
