Biography

Dr. Zoghbi joined the Section of Cardiology in the Department of Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 1985 as an Instructor of Medicine. While there, he was promoted to Assistant Professor of Medicine in 1986, to Associate Professor of Medicine in 1991, and to full Professor in 1998. Dr. Zoghbi joined The Methodist Hospital Physician Organization in 2005.

Description of Research

Dr. Zoghbi´s research for the past 20 years has been in the area of echocardiography. He has developed methods for the evaluation of valvular and ventricular function that are applied worldwide. For the past 10 years, Dr. Zoghbi has directed the efforts of the Echocardiography Laboratory in the evaluation of myocardial hibernation. He applies echocardiographic methodology to select patients with hibernation and explores the pathophysiology of the disorder.
