Sports Partnership Community Initiatives
During the summer, before Saturday home games, Houston Astros outfielder Lance Berkman meets a group of 50 children and welcomes them to the game. Sponsored by Methodist, Berkman's Bunch is a community program that allows Houston-area children and their families the opportunity to attend a Houston Astros baseball game.
Methodist and the Texans have teamed up to bring football and healthy education to the community through a number of initiatives. During the regular season, Methodist brings underprivileged children in the community to the games. In the off-season, Methodist helps present Health and Safety Tours for elementary school children, the 5K run/walk Running of the Bulls, Football 101 for women, hospital visits from team players and a newborn program called Tiny Texans.Official Health Care Provider of:
