
Methodist's Hematology/Oncology Services work jointly in the study and treatment of blood disorders and cancer in adults. Highly specialized staff in both areas provide consultations and make available to patients a variety of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic studies through the hospital's comprehensive Cancer Center.

The services also carry out clinical research in the diagnosis and therapy of various anemias, immune cytopenias, coagulation disorders, and malignant diseases. In addition to radiation therapy, the services actively perform Phase II and III investigational drug studies and have special interest in autologous bone marrow transplantation, lymphomas and leukemia.
Methodist's Cancer Program is one of the largest and most rapidly evolving such programs in the country. It was established in 1987 and is accredited by the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer. Since 1984, more than 23,000 patients have been diagnosed or treated at Methodist. Today, the program is the third-largest in Texas.
