Volunteer Services

Benefits of Volunteering

Although the highest rewards for volunteer service are both intangible and immeasurable, The Methodist Hospital wants to recognize your time and work performance by extending the following benefits:

  • Letters of Recommendation: These may be written by the volunteer supervisor or by the unit supervisor for employment, education or scholarship references upon completion of 100 hours of service.
  • Special Events: Speakers from the Methodist or Baylor medical Community will address the volunteers at their service recognition luncheons and assembly meetings. This is a unique opportunity to hear about visions for the future of medicine. A question/answer session follows each presentation, and typically there is an opportunity to meet the speaker before the beginning of each meeting.
  • 15% off purchases at hospital cafeterias, valid at The Market Place and The Bistro.
  • Free Parking: Parking will be provided while volunteering.
  • Free Flu Shots given annually in October. Notification will be sent to inform volunteers of the date, time and location.
  • Free TB Screening will be scheduled prior to beginning volunteer work.
  • Free Hearing Screening all year, appointments are necessary.
  • Free Computer Classes
  • Free CPR Certification
  • Free Participation in National Volunteer Event
Additional benefits for long-term committed volunteers:
  • 20% off services rendered from the Methodist Wellness Center, includes weight management, smoking cessation, stress management, travel medicine services, and prenatal nutrition
  • 20% discount on most items at Christy Optical
