The Methodist Hospital cancer care team recognizes that the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer extend beyond the physical needs of the patient. At Methodist, dedicated oncology units employ a range of skilled professionals who provide coordinated, compassionate care for patients and their families. An exemplary standard of care is facilitated by interdisciplinary conferences in which radiologists, oncologists, pathologists, surgeons, nurses, therapists and technicians collaborate for diagnostic evaluation and prospective treatment planning. This dynamic team of experts critically discusses and evaluates individual breast, brain, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, gynecological, head and neck, lymphoma and lung cancer cases on a regular bases.
In addition, Methodist sponsors grand rounds where local and visiting oncology authorities stimulate discovery and provide continuing education in patient care, scientific research and clinical treatment.
