Weekly medical monitoring is provided by Registered Nurses or Licensed Vocational Nurses. These professionals are the first-line medical personnel overseeing each participant’s medical progress throughout the treatment program. In addition to weekly weight and blood pressure checks, they will note any medical problems related to the fasting that may arise, monitor each participants’ monthly lab values and regularly interact with the Medical Director.
Registered and Licensed Dietitians monitor participants’ nutritional progress throughout the program. From fasting to transition to maintenance, the dietitian is there to provide guidance and nutrition education to the participants with the goal of empowering each person to make healthy food choices. All of the dietitians have either bachelor's or master's degree in nutrition and at least three years of clinical experience in general clinical nutrition. Most have specializations in obesity, diabetes and kidney disease.
Behavior change is one of the most difficult aspects of weight loss and weight maintenance. The team of behaviorists or professional counselors work with the participants to enable them to become healthier by offering behavioral tools, sharing their knowledge, expertise and guidance as the participant begins and continues the process of losing and maintaining weigh loss. All of the behavioral staff are at least master's prepared and licensed professional counselors with a minimum of 3 years experience working with individuals, couples and groups.
